Store Bought vs. Custom Furniture
There are some obvious difference but others are less obvious. Here are 3 key differences between the two. Also, I’ve included a video below describing these differences in more detail.
CUSTOM = GREATER SELECTION / ENDLESS OPTIONS
This is no more true than with custom upholstery - sofas, chairs, beds… You can select your own fabric and design the style of the piece yourself. You can make it unique to you.
2. CUSTOM FURNITURE = NOT IN STOCK
Store bought furniture isn’t always in stock but it certainly can be. Custom pieces on the other hand are made to order and so you can’t expect to have them the next day. Keep in mind that more and more stores these days do NOT carry a lot of inventory so always check with your sales associate before making the assumption that something is ready to ship. It’s quite normal to expect 8-10 week delivery times for store bought products these days.
3. COSTS CAN SURPRISE YOU
Store bought products CAN be more affordable but that’s not always the case. We often find that the cost of some custom pieces is competitive with high end furniture stores. So do your research before making an assumption.
The video below summarizes these differences and explains the difference between recovery vs. re-upholstery.
