Family Friendly Kitchen Reveal
Revealing Project Coleridge
The heart of the home is normally the kitchen. What do you when you have outgrown your kitchen and you have another baby on the way? Well, you renovate and reinvent your kitchen so that it starts working for you again. Our Coleridge clients came to us earlier this year, with a baby on the way wondering how they were going to be able to fit a family of 4, complete with a newborn and toddler, in their existing kitchen.
Storage and function was a huge problem in this space. We approached this kitchen with the mindset that it not only had to be beautiful, but ultimately functional and storage friendly. If a space is pretty and doesn’t function, it won’t matter that you renovated you’ll still have all of the same issue as before - FUNCTION is key!
Our clients loved this built-in wall of storage (complete with wine bar). Out of sight, out of mind!
We learned all the little details that mattered to our clients - right now to what kind of coffee and tea they drink - this allowed us to come up with beautiful customize drawers for their hot beverages.
I’m in LOVE with this idea. We appropriated these compost bins and turned them into storage for those fruits and veggies that don’t normally go in your fridge.
We decided to use an island to create a barrier between the cooking zone and the entertaining zone - as our clients LOVE to entertain.
As I said before, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and when you have kids, they love to be in the kitchen with you. Adding this banquette with additional storage below, gives kids the opportunity to get cozy and do arts and crafts while the parents are in the kitchen doing something else.
Believe it or not, WE CLOSED A WINDOW! I’m all for natural light, but the old window wasn’t bringing in enough. In order to keep the space bright, we added LED spotlights, kept the upper cabinets a bright stark white, and dressed it up with a lovely hood fan. This space is actually brighter now!
I love this pantry! It has a combination of shelves and drawers and we made use of the space as much as we could. Here’s a tip: Don't get a deep pantry - things get lost in the back - go for a shallower pantry and add easy access storage to the door!
